Zak Brown Has Nightmare That Piastri Won WDC
McLaren CEO reportedly woke up in a cold sweat muttering “Oh thank god, Lando won.”
WOKING—McLaren CEO Zak Brown reportedly suffered a recurring nightmare this week in which Oscar Piastri won the Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship, a scenario sources say left Brown visibly shaken and questioning “his loyalty to Lando.”
According to team insiders, the dream involved Piastri calmly winning races, scoring consistent points, and lifting the championship trophy while Brown stood nearby holding a prewritten speech thanking Lando Norris for his “mental fortitude, growth, and papaya vibes.”
“He shot upright in bed,” said one McLaren staffer familiar with the incident. “He kept muttering, ‘This isn’t right. Lando was ahead.’”
Brown later addressed staff, assuring them the dream was “purely hypothetical” and that McLaren remains committed to a balanced driver approach. He also clarified that under no circumstances is anyone supposed to tell Piastri about the dream.
“Look, Oscar is phenomenal,” Brown said in a statement. “We love him. Truly. But sometimes you wake up and think, ‘What if the wrong guy makes history?’”
Medical experts note that such dreams are common among executives experiencing prolonged exposure to having their “second” driver consistently outperform their first.
At press time, Brown had reportedly stopped sleeping altogether, stating he “cannot take any more heartbreak” and has instead chosen to rest by rewatching qualifying sessions where Lando “looked really strong.”
