To Reduce Backpressure, New Cars to Feature Seat Vents
Automakers say improved flow dynamics lead to measurable gains in performance, efficiency, and driver relief.
DETROIT—Automakers announced this week that upcoming vehicle platforms will introduce a new generation of ventilated seating systems designed specifically to eliminate backpressure and increase performance.
According to manufacturers, modern vehicles have become too well sealed. Advances in seat technology and cabin insulation have created an environment where backpressure has nowhere to go, resulting in localized resistance, driver discomfort, and what engineers describe as “dangerous retention.”
