RIVERSIDE—Urban planners and local officials confirmed this week that a tightly knit project car enthusiast community has officially transitioned into the nation’s first 100% walking community, following what experts describe as a “completely natural” progression toward zero operational vehicles.

The shift, which occurred gradually over several years, began innocently enough with an overly confident engine swap. That swap was soon joined by a “quick suspension refresh,” a “new final drive,” and several vehicles that “definitely ran before the battery died.” By early spring, officials confirmed that every car in the neighborhood was either on jack stands, missing a critical component, or waiting on parts from Alibaba.
