Nissan Reports It Makes More Money Selling Altima Bumpers Than Altimas
Executives Cite “Unmatched Demand in Areas with High Hot Cheetos Sales”
LONG BEACH—Nissan’s recent earnings reports have confirmed that it now generates more revenue from replacement bumpers for the Altima than from sales of the vehicle itself, citing a “highly engaged and customer base that stays active in them streets.
“This isn’t something we anticipated, but we’ve learned to shift almost all our production to front and rear bumpers before releasing a new model,” said Nissan North America spokesperson Luis Herrera. “The Altima continues to perform exceptionally well in key impact areas, particularly in front-end and rear-end collisions.”
According to internal reports, Altima bumper replacements have seen a 1312% increase over the past 20 years, with executives pointing to consistent demand driven by people they actually decided to give licenses to.
“We’re seeing repeat customers at a rate most brands can only dream of,” Herrera added. “In some cases, the same driver is contributing to our quarterly revenue multiple times. That kind of loyalty is hard to build.”
The Altima has carved out a unique niche in the market, appealing to drivers who prioritize urgency over awareness, safety, other drivers, and basic situational judgment.
For drivers like 26-year-old Altima owner Vanessa Johnson, the numbers make sense.
“I’ve had to replace the bumper a few times, yeah, and?” she admitted, taking a drag from her vape while brushing Hot Cheetos dust off her leggings. “But that’s just because people don’t know how to drive. Like, if you see me coming up behind you, just move. It’s not that hard.”
Johnson, who was waiting in line to pick up her son Jayden from school, said she has no plans to switch vehicles anytime soon. “I love my Altima. It’s fast, it’s reliable, and the bumper spot already knows me, so it’s super easy.”
As Nissan looks to survive, sources say the Automaker is considering offering bumper replacements as part of a subscription model, allowing drivers to receive a fresh front and rear end every month.
