New Dealer Enthusiast Sports Car Option Removes Windows Entirely
Sales staff say the feature “reduces weight,” “improves scent removal,” and saves drivers the trouble of rolling them down every single time anyway.
IRVINE—Dealerships across the country are now offering a new enthusiast-focused option that removes the vehicle’s windows entirely, a move sales managers insist is “exactly what the community has been asking for.”
According to dealers, the option, listed as Window Delete Package, was developed after years of watching customers immediately roll their windows down upon leaving the lot, regardless of outside temperature, road conditions, or nearby cow farms.
“We noticed a pattern,” said dealership performance specialist Kyle Jensen. “Guys would buy a $70,000 sports car, roll the windows down, and then never roll the windows back up again. At some point, you ask yourself, why are they even there?”
The package, which retails for $14,800 before installation, permanently removes all side glass and associated regulators, replacing them with a lightweight scroll that, when unraveled, states, “race cars don’t have windows,” regardless of how slow the car is. Dealers claim the change results in weight savings, increased road feel, and a “flatulence-proof environment.”
Customers are obviously thrilled. “I always drive with the windows down,” said local enthusiast Ryan Davis, shouting slightly over road noise at 45 mph. “Cold? Windows down. Hot? Windows down. Highway? Windows down. This just saves me a step. Plus, how else are people supposed to see me driving this Geo Metro?”
Dealers confirmed the option has been especially popular among buyers who call their car a “street car” despite daily commuting in traffic. “It’s not about comfort,” Jensen explained. “It’s about commitment to the culture. Rolling your windows down is for posers. Not having windows tells people you walk the walk.”
