Local Man Uses Hims Instead of Octane Booster, Reports 4 Straight Hours of Increased Horsepower
Last minute decision ahead of track day leads to a “firm and immediate performance gain.”
HEMET—Local track-day enthusiast Ryan Delgado says he was trying to gain an advantage over the weekend’s time trial event when an octane booster supply issue forced him into what he now describes as “the strongest and most effective performance mod I’ve ever discovered.”
Delgado, who was preparing his Ford Mustang GT for a time attack event, realized late Friday night that he was completely out of high-octane fuel and octane booster, an oversight he attributed to “being broke.”
“I wanted to make sure I had a little more power, just a little edge,” Delgado explained. “Nothing crazy. Just something to make me the stiff competition for the event.”
According to Delgado, after realizing he had no race fuel or booster, he noticed a sample box of Hims he impulse ordered off Instagram in his garage. He briefly paused, went into a long stare, and made a decision he insists made sense “given the circumstances.”
“I figured power is power. Manpower, horsepower, same same,” he said.
Delgado reports mashing the contents into a fine dust and funneling it into the gas tank, agitating the mixture by pushing his car back and forth until he heard the gas tank slosh, and the change was immediate. His Mustang GT, normally rated around 480 horsepower, allegedly surged to an estimated 607 horsepower, a gain of exactly 127 horsepower that Delgado says lasted “four straight hours, with zero fade.”
“It wasn’t just faster,” he said. “It was more… confident. Throttle response was aggressive. Idle was assertive. Honestly, the whole car felt like it had more mojo.”
Track officials reportedly noticed the difference as well. “He was pushing harder on the straights than usual,” said one fellow driver. “And I don’t know how to explain this, but the car just looked like it was eager to please.”
When asked whether the modification had any unintended side effects, Delgado paused. “Look, I’m not saying the car didn’t need a mechanic after the third hour,” he said. “But it didn’t stop and just kept going and going.”
By the end of the day, Delgado stated he decided that the Hims mixture is now a permanent part of his race prep, and he has begun drafting a sponsorship proposal.
“If this is what it does for my performance,” he said, “I think there’s real potential here. I just need them to back me.”
Delgado added that future plans include higher dosages, extended sessions, and possibly “something formulated specifically for the duration of Le Mans.”
