Lance Stroll Gifts Adrian Newey Copy of How to Build a Car
Team sources confirm an included note reads, “Thought this might help.”
SILVERSTONE—Lance Stroll has taken matters into his own hands and reportedly presented Adrian Newey with a copy of How to Build a Car, a book Stroll read through as best he could and highlighted all the anecdotes of Newey’s car’s winning.
“Maybe it’s time to review the fundamentals,” Stroll reportedly said. “Sometimes it helps to revisit the basics.”
Witnesses say the exchange occurred quietly inside the Aston Martin shop, where Stroll approached Newey holding the hardcover with the careful seriousness of someone with a completely unjustified sense of superiority.
Newey reportedly paused when he saw the book.
“He kind of dropped his head,” said one team member. “Not sad. Just… reflective. Like he wished he was still at Red Bull working with Max Verstappen instead.”
According to sources close to Newey, several passages were aggressively highlighted in neon yellow, particularly chapters detailing championship seasons, dominant aero concepts, and notes detailing the definition of the more lengthy words in the book,
An i
ncluded handwritten note reportedly read:
Adrian—Thought this might help.
—Lance
“This is about growth,” said a Lance’s father. “Lance believes he can be a champion and even none of us do. He will need the old Newey to get there. Everyone loves the old Newey.”
When asked about the gift, Newey remained composed stating, “I remember writing most of it.”
In a later meeting Stroll referenced Chapter 5 during a brief conversation, tapping the page and in an assertive tone that couldn’t convince anyone, “There’s a lot of good stuff in here.”
Shortly after, Stroll had reportedly sent Newey a recurring calendar invite titled “Adrian’s Light Reading Time.”
