Ferrari President on Hamilton: “People Win 7 World Titles and Suddenly They're Experts.”
Elkann claims winning seven titles is “impressive, but not, like… Ferrari impressive.”
MARANELLO—Ferrari president John Elkann has reportedly grown exhausted with Lewis Hamilton’s “constant barrage of knowledgeable opinions,” claiming the seven-time world champion has developed a concerning habit of “demonstrating the years of experience and skill he’s collected while becoming one of the best drivers of all time.”
“People become 7X world champions and all of a sudden they think they’re experts,” Elkann sighed during a press conference. “Lewis keeps suggesting things… like how to improve the car, how to optimize strategy, how to win races. It’s getting ridiculous. I mean, who does he think he is?”
Sources inside the team say Hamilton had the audacity to provide feedback on tire management, braking stability, and race starts, a level of input Ferrari refuses to entertain from its drivers.
“I don’t know where he gets the confidence,” Elkann reportedly muttered. “He’s been here for, what, a few months? Meanwhile, we’ve been doing things our way for years. They expect to have input just because we haven’t won in those years. Unforgivable.”
Carlos Sainz, the man Ferrari absolutely definitely does not regret letting go, weighed in from Williams. “Yeah, that tends to happen,” he said. “Lewis provides input on how to win. Ferrari gives… press releases.”
Elkann stood firm. “Look, I respect Lewis,” he said. “But if he keeps this up, he might trick the team into improving. We have a brand to maintain.”
