Ferrari Just Happy to Have Played a Part in Hamilton’s Seven-Time Champion Career
Team states, “It’s an honor to be a contributor in the journey of a champion”
MARANELLO—Ferrari officials confirmed this week that the team is “deeply proud” of the role it played in Lewis Hamilton’s legendary seven-time World Championship career, emphasizing that contribution should not be narrowly defined by wins, championships, or any measure of success during this past season.
“We see ourselves as a supporting pillar in Lewis’s legacy,” said Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur. “Some teams exist to provide contrast. Really show how difficult it can be. We believe we did that beautifully. His titles look even greater.”
Ferrari leadership would like it known that while Hamilton’s titles weren’t achieved with the team, the Scuderia’s involvement adds important twists to his career arc. The 2025 season served as a reminder of how difficult sustained excellence truly is.
“People forget how easy Lewis made winning look,” Vasseur continued. “We helped remind the world that it’s actually very hard.”
Hamilton, for his part, has remained polite throughout the season, despite repeatedly offering feedback over team radio that Ferrari engineers confirmed they did not hear, acknowledge, or respond to in any meaningful way.
Despite outside criticism suggesting Ferrari has done little to advance Hamilton’s title ambitions this season, the team remains confident in its place within his story.
“When people talk about Lewis Hamilton in 20 years,” Vasseur said, “they won’t just talk about this season. They’ll talk about Lewis Hamilton leaving Ferrari a seven-time world champion.”
Ferrari confirmed it looks forward to continuing its role next season as a proud contributor to Hamilton’s legacy, adding that championships are not guaranteed.
