Checo on Future with Cadillac: “Throw Some Ds on That B****”
The Ex-Red Bull driver insists Cadillac’s F1 entry will only be competitive once fitted with Ds
MEXICO CITY—Sergio “Checo” Pérez has offered his own vision for Cadillac’s upcoming Formula 1 program. Asked about ensuring the team’s success on the grid, Pérez simply replied: “Throw some Ds on that bitch.”
“These guys are talking about aerodynamics and wind tunnels. That’s cool. Adrian Newey was cool,” Pérez said at a press event. “But Cadillac has heritage. Chrome rims, wood grain, hydraulics. You put that on an F1 car, shit tight, no slack. Win in a Cadillac.”
Cadillac executives were reportedly caught off guard but are “exploring the concept.” “We hadn’t really considered Ds for a Formula chassis,” admitted program director Brian Sullivan. “But Checo seemed pretty adamant about his Rich Boy approach.”
Not everyone is convinced. “This is absurd,” said McLaren driver Lando Norris. “What’s he gonna do, take it to the chop shop, get a damn drop top? Next he’ll want peanut butter ice cream, Peter Pan seats.”
Still, fans appear excited by the idea. Local Cadillac enthusiast Juan Delgado defended Checo’s comments: “He’s just bringing that OG Cadillac energy to the track. Why should Formula 1 be all carbon fiber and misery? Let the cars bounce on three wheels down the straight. Johnny Dang probably has a grill ready to go for Checo.”
Pérez doubled down, adding that Cadillac’s first upgrade package should include a livery with two-color flip flop, candy red lollipop. “Imagine the intimidation factor when Lewis Hamilton sees all the hoes in the parking lot,” he explained. “That’s how you win races.”
Whether Cadillac will actually adopt Pérez’s suggested modifications remains unclear. But insiders say the team has already sourced grills to match his helmets and requested FIA clarification on the legality of spinners in parc fermé.
As for Pérez, he remains optimistic about Cadillac’s chances. “Everybody doubts them,” he said. “But once you throw some Ds on it, it’s game over.”
