After Success of Mexico GP Radio Messages, George Russell Hires Writers to Get Even More Coverage in the Future
After radio outbursts finally got him on TV, Russell plans to pre-write meltdowns and emotional monologues for every race.
MEXICO CITY—Following a wave of viral clips from his passionate radio messages during the Mexican Grand Prix, Mercedes driver George Russell has reportedly hired a team of professional writers to script his future messages, ensuring he gets coverage during live broadcasts.
For years, Russell has struggled to receive coverage. Often finishing strong but with no one having any idea, since cameras were too busy focusing on Max Verstappen winning or Fernando Alonso gesturing and yelling at rookies. That all changed in Mexico, when Russell’s series of exasperated, high-pitched radio transmissions finally put him under the spotlight he craved.
“I realized I don’t need results, I just need personality,” Russell said, pacing dramatically in front of a mirror with his hands behind his back. “The fans want emotion. Pain. Betrayal. If I have to suffer for airtime, then so be it.”
According to team insiders, Russell’s new “writing pit crew” includes former Netflix writers and at least one intern who worked on Drive to Survive Season 6.
“We’re working on deeper storytelling,” said lead writer Marc Santos. “Each message will follow a three-act structure. The first lap sets the conflict, mid-race builds tension, and by the final laps, we’re aiming for tears or outrage—whatever gets those TV cameras.”
Russell’s writers are already testing new material for upcoming races. Early drafts reportedly include lines such as “They’re up my ass again!” and “You want me to lose?” as well as a recurring catchphrase, “This can’t be happening again!”
With the season nearing its end, Russell remains focused on the bigger picture. “I’m not just racing anymore,” he said. “I’m getting on TV. Hi, Mom!”
